Day 9

Making our way home! We stayed in Lock Haven, PA after the Little League World Series. We are heading Arlington Heights, IL to stay the last night! Swimming and pizza on the agenda!!
Finding new things to do in the car! These 2 are really good travelers. They've watched license plates to cross of their list, played the alphabet game (we made up a new version on our way to Kansas City!), played games on their tablets, watched some movies, and listened to Craig's playlist. They've now started playing MASH on the way home! :)

Song of the day: Sweet Caroline (again!)
Loved listening to everyone singing it at the top of their lungs! :)

Day 8

Another beautiful drive on our way to Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series!!
Little League World Series!!
ESPN booth!
What an awesome place! So excited to see this in person!!
It is crazy with people here!!

Cooling off with some lemonade! :)

We ended up on a steep hill in left field. Very steep! People bring chairs with the back legs cut off. We weren't aware of this tradition! It was a little hard to sit on a blanket without sliding!
The other field where the International games were being played was even steeper!
We decided to head to right field where there was shade. People kept streaming in and we found out it's not normally this busy......there was a Pennsylvania team playing in the 8:00 game!!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect here, but it was crazier than I thought it would be....makes sense now! I guess the crowd they had was what like it would be at the championship game!
Everybody brings cardboard to slide down the hill. Apparently Craig knew about this tradition, but I didn't! :)
Awesome!
Can you see Austin? He liked climbing up the hills!
So many people!! We got to thinking all these people trying to get out of parking lots onto one road isn't going to be good. After 7-0 in the second inning and we had been there all day we decided to head out. That game ended up 14-0. They have the 10 run rule in the 4th inning. We saw another game that was 14-2, so that ended in the 4th as well!!

It was a great day! We saw a record tying 5 home runs in 1 inning, great hitting, great fielding, and great pitching! It's unbelievable to see these young kids walking around signing autographs, taking pictures with people, and playing on ESPN! At first I thought this is just crazy for all these young kids to be exposed to all this! I chatted with the Mexican left fielder and his Dad.....they were so friendly......as was everyone else I saw! I suppose they are groomed for the "fame" this will bring. They probably get warned about autographs and pictures and I wonder if they are told to be so nice about it or if they just are? I changed my thoughts that this must be such a cool experience for them all! I was amazed at the sportsmanship as well. When someone hit a home run the fielders shook his hand as he ran the bases....one time the pitcher congratulated the kid on his way home!!!! I thought that was just great.

This was another thing Craig and I have
really wanted to do. It was really neat to be there! Fun to be a part of the hype! And such a beautiful area to have the baseball fields!!

Song of the day: Centerfield

Day 7

Baltimore! Forecast was for a rainy day.
Rained at the start of our touring. Waited about 20 minutes for it to pass.
Inner Harbor

Maryland Science Center! It was a really good one! The kids are seeing what it's like to dig for fossils.
Finding our house on a big satellite map! It's kind of creepy that you can find anything!
Austin wasn't too sure he wanted to stick his hand in there!
A bed of nails came through and lifted Katelynn up!!
Katelynn is very calm with a low stress level! Me- not so much!
Outside the Science Center
Federal Hill Park
Austin wanted to climb up the hill because he learned about it in school. Craig and Austin made the climb while Katelynn and I went to get Cheesecake at the Cheescake Factory! Haha!
At the top!
Baltimore Orioles! A short walk from our hotel to the ballgame.
The Twins play here tonight! We were excited and hoping for no rain!
In the outfield the balls mark some of the home run spots. There is one on the warehouse building!!

Not looking good. They announced the game will be delayed as they wait for inclement weather!
Boo!!!!!!!
This was a pic from the Orioles twitter. Yikes!
We tried some Chippers. In my world that means chocolate covered potato chips. Here, that means potato chips with cheese, crab, scallops, and green onions! Num!
2 1/2 hour rain delay! Cheers as the tarp gets taken off! Yay!! The game will be played!!!!!
Whoo Hoooo!!
9:35 start time!! This reminded us of our very first game on our very first trip (our honeymoon) in Kansas City! That game started at 9:59 pm and ended at 12:59am!!
By the time the game started there weren't many fans left. They invited people to sit wherever you wanted! We moved behind third base.

Bases loaded!!
We decided we didn't like not being behind the net. Moved behind home plate!!
As the night went on the Orioles fans started leaving. We moved up REALLY close! So fun to see everyone so close........I could see Joe Mauer's dimples!! :) The Twins scored 15 runs and it was awesome and worth waiting out the rain!
We stayed for the whole game. Got done about 12:30am. It was a great game for the Twins! We had so much fun watching so close and play so well!!

Song of the day: Thank God I'm a Country Boy. No idea why the Orioles play this for the 7th inning stretch, but they do! It even says that in the National Baseball Hall of Fame!
